I always remember Narendra Modi & Tea Rose perfume ! 1995: during Gujarat elections, I made a series of News & Current Affairs programmes: “Triumph of Indian Democracy”; for Doordarshan News Division”. I met Narendra Modi, General Secretary – BJP, election strategist for Gujarat parliamentary elections – 1995. Keshubhai Patel was surging towards BJP’s remarkable clean sweep in Gujarat. Narendra Modi had a media and ‘election war room’. I was in Gujarat with our Doordarshan News camera crew to cover elections. Narendra Modi was guiding us about BJP. Yuvraj S. Singh, was very young. He spent days and nights with Narendra Modi. Yuvraj S. Singh, aka Yuvraj Siddhartha Singh was in the company of Narendra Modi with BJP karyakartas. We were assisted by several BJP party workers in our coverage.

We really slogged to complete maximum coverage. When we were to leave for Delhi, I went to the office of Narendra Modi, to thank him, for helping me and my camera team. He was very impressed with my dedication and hard work. Narendra Modi presented me with a bottle of ‘Tea Rose” perfume ! His thoughts and gesture, still takes me back to those days of simplicity and humility. He gave a pack of chocolates to young Yuvraj S. Singh. Narendra Modi gave a warm hug to me and Yuvraj S. Singh at our departure. “The Great Triumph of Indian Democracy” – written, produced by: Neelam M. Singh was repeatedly telecast on national hook up of Doordarshan. So much has changed since then ! Memories fade ! Circumstances change ! Memories that touch our hearts remain alive. Tea Rose perfume: always connects me with, now Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Journey of Life: Neelam M. He took office after the 1984 assassination of his mother, PM Indira Gandhi, to become the youngest Indian Prime Minister at the age of 40. Rajiv Gandhi set the new dynamics of youthful, modernised political scenario, by empowering 18 years old, to vote! Rest in peace always: Rajiv Gandhi.
